چکیده

The nucleotide sequence of a 10465 bp HindIII genomic fragment from fowlpox virus (FPV) is presented. Analysis of the nucleotide sequence revealed 10 potential major open reading frames (ORFs). Five of these ORFs are predicted to encode polypeptides with significant homology to hypothetical polypeptides derived from nucleotide sequence analysis of the vaccinia virus (VV) HindIII D region. Interestingly, these homologous ORFs do not occur in the same tandem arrangement in the FPV genome as they do in the VV genome. These results are discussed.

Fine structure analysis and nucleotide sequence of the vaccinia virus thymidine kinase gene.

The thymidine kinase (ATP:thymidine 5'-phosphotransferase, EC 2.7.1.21) gene of vaccinia virus has previously been mapped near the middle of the viral DNA, within the 4.85-kilobase HindIII J fragment, and shown to encode a Mr 19,000 polypeptide [Hruby, D. E. & Ball, L. A. (1982) J. Virol. 43, 403-409]. To locate the gene more precisely and to determine the structure of the basic transcriptional...

Transcriptional and translational mapping and nucleotide sequence analysis of a vaccinia virus gene encoding the precursor of the major core polypeptide 4b.

We prepared antiserum that reacted with a major core polypeptide of approximately 62,000 daltons (62K polypeptide), designated 4b, and its 74K precursor, designated P4b. A cell-free translation product of vaccinia virus late mRNA that comigrated with P4b was specifically immunoprecipitated. The late mRNA encoding P4b hybridized to restriction fragments derived from the left end of the HindIII A...

Cloning and characterization of the gene encoding the major protein of the A-type inclusion body of cowpox virus.

We have mapped and determined the nucleotide sequence of the cowpox virus (CPV) gene coding for the protein of A-type inclusion bodies (ATI). The ATI gene was mapped to the central part of the largest HindIII restriction fragment of the CPV genome. Vaccinia virus (VV) also contained a similar sequence at the equivalent position in its genome, which even under stringent conditions hybridized wit...

Non-essential genes in the vaccinia virus HindIII K fragment: a gene related to serine protease inhibitors and a gene related to the 37K vaccinia virus major envelope antigen.

The complete nucleotide sequence of a cloned copy of the HindIII K fragment of the WR strain of vaccinia virus has been determined. Eight open reading frames (ORFs) have been identified, on the basis of size and codon usage. The predicted amino acid sequences of the putative genes have been compared to the Protein Identification Resource and to published vaccinia virus sequences. One gene, pred...

Host range expansion of Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) following recombination of a 0.6-kilobase-pair DNA fragment originating from Bombyx mori NPV.

We have isolated hybrid baculoviruses of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) and Autographa californica NPV (AcNPV) capable of replicating in both BmN (not susceptible to AcNPV) and SF-21 (not susceptible to BmNPV) cells (A. Kondo and S. Maeda, J. Virol. 65:3625-3632, 1991). Repeated backcross infection of one of these recombinant isolates with AcNPV generated eh-AcNPV, a virus with ...
